Emotional Challenges for the Fall Element

Emotional Challenges for the Fall Element

I woke up this morning, and there was snow on the ground. One of the cool things about the high desert is that the snow never lasts long but provides an opportunity to bathe in its beauty. I thought about how a change of seasons influences us mentally, physically, and spiritually. Some of the feelings associated with the Autumn Season that may surface if we are out of balance are:

Having a hard time adapting to change, need to be in control/afraid of losing control, critical/judgmental, unexplained or chronic sadness, difficulty letting go, fear of failure, obsessive relationships, wallowing in past grief, and it feels like you have checked out.

Strategies for Autumn

The Metal Rhythm or Element is tasked with letting go, sadness, and grief.

  • Create the space for self-nurturing; begin or continue with a spiritual practice.
  • Seek out meaningful relationships.
  • The Heart Chakra governs the lungs, which is the feminine or inner quality of the Metal Element. Heartache is a necessary part of life, and learning to let go of the past can be difficult. Allow the energy of the Metal Element to help you process your experiences to integrate them on a deeper level.
  • Don’t skimp on self-care; eat well, get enough rest, exercise, and love wholeheartedly.
  • Build on the successes that you have had this year, give thanks, and practice kindness.

Energy Medicine techniques that can bring you back into balance:

Hold the Neurovascular Reflex Points for grief

  • Place your right hand on the crown chakra located at the top of your head
  • Place your left hand gently across your forehead.
  • Hold for 3-20 minutes or longer until you feel a shift or your sadness dissipates.
  • It’s also very effective if you hold these points on someone else.

Work with your Heart Chakra

  • You can have amazing results by focusing your attention on your Heart Chakra. Adding deep breathing to your conscious awareness will deepen your connection to your healing process.
  • Set an affirmation for your practice, inhale love, and feel your heart expand. Allow the sensation to fill your entire chest area.
  • Exhale all that no longer nourishes you, that you have outgrown or is no longer with you.

Namaste,

Lizz
